CC Sabathia, an Alpine resident, will have his number retired by the New York Yankees. The former pitcher, who played for the Yankees from 2009 to 2019, will be the 24th person in franchise history to receive this honor. The plaque unveiling will take place in Monument Park on September 26.
"To have my number retired by the New York Yankees this year is one of the greatest honors of my life," Sabathia stated in an Instagram post. "Thank you to everyone who believed in me every step of the way. The LegaCCy continues."
