Cresskill softball achieved a historic milestone this season, clinching its first division title in program history. The Cougars' success is the culmination of years of dedication and leadership, particularly from seniors Sophia Coleman and Julia Couch.
Head coach Laura Germano highlighted Coleman and Couch's commitment, noting their presence throughout the program's journey, even during challenging seasons. Their leadership played a crucial role in building the team to its current standing.
The team demonstrated their progress in a game against Harrison, showcasing their offensive capabilities with 24 steals and 16 walks. Brianna Depalo had a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with three steals, four runs scored, and five RBIs. Katie Kim also contributed significantly, stealing four bases and reaching base four times, going 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored, and three RBIs.
The Cougars concluded the regular season with a five-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 73-11, and were preparing for the sectional tournament.
In another notable game, Angelina Cecere's three triples propelled Cresskill to a 14-9 victory over Hawthorne. Cecere also scored three runs, while Sophia Coleman pitched all seven innings, securing the win. Annabella Doto contributed with a double and an RBI, and Lily Simonetta added two hits and an RBI.
Lilah Jamieson went 4-for-4 in the game against Hawthorne, while Brianna Depalo added a triple. Katie Kim and Julia Couch also contributed with multiple hits and RBIs.
