Capon's Chophouse, a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, has opened its doors on Hackensack Avenue, bringing a fresh dining experience to Hackensack. Chef Brandon “Bud” Carter, formerly of the Butcher’s Block in Long Branch, helms the kitchen, offering a menu focused on steak, seafood, and pasta dishes.
The restaurant features a playful flair, with dishes like buffalo octopus as an appetizer. Main courses include a Spicy Rig, balancing creaminess with Calabrian chilis, and a squid ink tonnerelli paired with king crab in a saffron and lemon butter emulsion. Steaks are a highlight, with a Prime filet noted for its tenderness. Capon's Chophouse is located at 390 Hackensack Avenue.
Another forthcoming addition to Hackensack's dining scene is Azul, an upscale Mexican dining concept from a longtime New Jersey restaurateur. The restaurant will be located in downtown Hackensack. In nearby South Hackensack, FABA has recently opened, serving Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine at 69 Wesley Street.
